A  very sad and grave News broke out in the political circles today. The great Congress stalwart and Delhi’s longest CM, Mrs. Sheila Dixit has passed away. With a long rule filled with achievements as well as some controversies , Sheila Dikshit will be mourned by all her supporters and critics alike. Fortis Escorts Hospital said that she passed away at 3:55 PM after she was brought in a critical condition with cardiac arrest. Everyone has sent in their condolences to the grieving family.

Dikshit was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi, having served in office for 15 years from 1998. The 81-year-old was appointed as the president of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee earlier this year, in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. She was a popular Congress leader who had made her mark with her cool and calm strategies and love for her people.

Her last rites will be held on Sunday at 2:30 PM at NibambodhGhat.

Sheila Dikshit was a three-time Delhi CM and who was also the former Governor of Kerala. Between 1998 and 2013, Sheila Dikshit led Congress to three consecutive victories in Delhi and was a highly popular CM. She will be mourned by all the leaders and citizens alike. She was well known to be a strong woman uncompromising in her principles,  in the face of the most terse opposition. Her untimely demise leads a vacuum in the senior party membership of the Congress.
