The former Indian finance minister P Chidambaram has been arrested – with respect to money laundering case. The case dates back to 2007, regarding the foreign promotion board’s approval for the media venture of INX Media. The total fund to be received was about 305 crore, and the finance minister was Chidambaram during that phase.
CBI arrested Chidambaram in Delhi after he disappeared suddenly from the AICC headquarters, 24 hours after his bail was rejected. CBI officials scaled the wall of the minister’s home to gain access. Chidambaram’s lawyers have put forward the statement that he is a law abiding citizen with no offence under his name, and thus no possibility of him fleeing from justice.
CBI officials wouldn’t relent at all – they believe the case is monumental. In 2017, the agency found that Chidambaram’s son has documents pertaining to the INX Media. That was the time of doubt – following this money laundering case was lodged against Karti Chidambaram.
It might be pointed that then Home Minister Chidambaram and the Congress led government arrested Amit Shah ( present Home Minister ) in fake encounter case in Gujarat. Is this deliberate or divine vengeance then? We leave that to you to decide.
