The current ruling queen of pop, Taylor announced that a new track was coming on Instagram Live earlier today. She also shared the title, cover art, and release date of her seventh studio album. Needless to say fans are very excited with her new colorful look as a contrast of her dark Reputation days.  Her reputation follow-up Lover is out August 23 via Republic. It’s also a pleasant contrast as it is not a diss track, but rather an eloquent song supporting LGBTQ rights. Taylor is making her feelings clear with this song that of all things, hate should not be tolerated.

The song is replete with meaningful lyrics as evidence shows. With a beautiful tune Taylor has made her support clear. At one point in the song, Taylor sings, “You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace/And control your urges to scream about all the people you hate/‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay.” All the swift fans have been very supportive of this song.

Swift has always support gay rights. On June 1—the first day of Pride Month—Swift penned an open letter to Tennessee’s Republican Senator Lamar Alexander in support of the Equality Act. This one of a kind act had great ramifications for the American society. The bill is an expansion of the Civil Rights Act that prohibits employers from discriminating against anyone because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. This would help reduce the homophobia that is persistent still in work place. “The fact that, legally, some people are completely at the mercy of the hatred and bigotry of others is disgusting and unacceptable,” she wrote. And to show her added support, Taylor came up with this amazing song to show that hate is indeed not something to be proud of.

With her songs being listened to by millions of fans abroad, we can expect that Swift has really done her bit and taken a step forward to cleanse the world of hate. Her entire album will be out soon and it’s time to listen to some groovy pop songs and be more kind and tolerant!
