The Prestigious 66th National Film Awards Have Declared ‘Andhadhun’, ‘KGF’, ‘Padmaavat’ as Winners Among Others

The long awaited awards that define the cinematic landscape of the nation have arrived. The announcement of the most prestigious awards the 66th National Film Awards 2018 is being held at Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi. After long deliberations, the jury members have decided to move on to provide the following list of deserving winners.

As is the custom for every year, the awards are announced in April and the ceremony is held in May. But this time, the elections had caused a delay.  In a statement given to media, Prakash Javadekar, the IB minister said, “They made a lot of efforts for the last two months. I am very sure that they would have picked the best films, the best directors. They will announce that at the press conference today. This is 66th year of film awards and they have become a prestigious institute.” The date of the presentation of the awards is yet to be decided. However it is expected to be a star studded affair with the best talent presented all over the country.

The following jury heads were present. Jury head Rahul Rawail, Non-feature film jury head AS Kanal, Jury head for the best writing Utpal Bhojpuri are present at the announcement session.

  • Best Hindi Film: Andhadhun
  • Best Action: KGF
  • Best Choreography: Jyoti D Tommar for Padmaavat song ‘Ghoomar’
  • Best Music Director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Padmaavat
  • Best Sound Designer: URI
  • Best Adapted Screenplay: Andhadhun
  • Best Male Playback Singer: Arijit Singh for Padmaavat song ‘Binte Dil’
  • Best Female Playback Singer: Bindu Malini for Nathicharami song ‘Maayavi Manave’
  • Best Lyrics: Nathicharami
  • Best Supporting Actress: Surekha Sikri for Badhaai Ho
  • Best Supporting Actor: Swanand Kirkire for Chumbak
  • Best Film on Social Issues: Padman
  • Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment: Badhaai Ho
  • Best Actor: Ayushmann Khurrana for Andhadhun and Vicky Kaushal for URI
  • Best Actress: Keerthy Suresh for Mahanati
  • Best Director: Aditya Dhar for URI
  • Best Feature Film: Hellaro
  • Best Original Screenplay: Chi La Sow
  • Best Dialogue: Tarikh
  • Best Cinematography: MJ Radhakrishnan for Olu
  • Special Mention Awards: Sruthi Hariharan, Chandrachoor Rai, Jojo George and Savithri
  • Best Costume Design: Mahanati
  • Best Production Design: Kammara Sambhavam
