India has started warming up to the idea of stand up comedy and quite a few of them have started taking in a large audience with their own style and topics. But rarely has there ever been a day where a politician openly takes up the mic to say intentionally funny stuff. But Dr. Tharoor, at his gregarious best, managed to prepare a script and tickled quite some funny bones.
After a warm start with Kunal Kamra, Dr. Tharoot began with quite a few jokes about his trademark English. Explaining how his words are taken to be more serious than he intends, he showed quite a charming side with his version of how Indian politics has become and his own thoughts of it. His repertoire of work includes 29 years at the UN and he demonstrated how random fake news come up with his own bewilderance. And last but not the least he mentioned about his funny experience with British museums and explaining the British invasion in millennial terms.
To quote him, “if you didnt get his jokes, you can always blame nehru!”
