In a first of it’s kind move, Apple will be selling its phones and gizmos directly online after government has given the permission of online stores irrespective of presence or absence of brick and mortar stores. The global website store is all set to come out in 3 4 months time as Apple authorities have to mock up the global one to replicate the Indian market.

The US firm has also plans to set up the brick and mortar store in Mumbai within the next one year, this move comes following that government has allowed exports and contract manufacturing to be counted in the mandatory 30% local sourcing norm over a period of five years.

Presently, Apple has online sales partnerships with Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm Mall in the country, and Apple now will be assembling phones here in India as part of contract manufacturing. The sales will also expand to exporting assembled iphones to other countries.

Building a brick and mortar store will of course take more time, because the stores are a design and tourist treat – they will take some more planning to be executed. Other notable international brands like IKEA and H&M have already been outsourcing from India for the last 30 years. Experts believe that the relaxation of norms will help increase trade and commerce.
