Rains have come over full-fledged over India – over 10,000 people have been evacuated. 27 people have been drowned in Maharashtra, nine people in Karnataka, while over 44000 people have been displaced.

Incessant rains have been triggered in various parts of India that includes Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal. The Kerala government has meanwhile issued red alert – the Kochi airport has shut down because of water logging in the runway. The NDRF has been called to rescue people who are stranded, and all schools have been shut down.

In 2018, Kerala saw the worst flood with more than 400 lives lost – and as per the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) rains will ensue for the next few days.
