Ever since its release, TikTok has been no stranger to controversy. But aps they say, truth is indeed stranger than fiction. Who would have thought that such an innocuous app would have spo much impact. From being blamed for corrupting people to leading to deaths by people doing weird actions at dangerous places, there is certainly no dearth of things that Tiltok has been blamed for. It was banned by the madras high court but has managed to make a comeback again. And now in a surprising instance, the Tiktok app has helped police track a missing husband. Suresh, who has two children with Jayapradha, left their house in 2016, according to New Indian Express. His wife lodged a complaint after enquiring with their relatives and searching for him at different places.
No major breakthrough happened in the case until one of Jayaprada’s relatives noticed something strange on TikTok. In one of the videos, a person resembling Suresh appeared. Mystified, the relatives showed the wife the video. After more than 2 years, her husband had indeed been found! After Jayapradha confirmed it was her husband, the matter was reported to Villupuram police and they traced him down to Hosur. It was then discovered that Suresh had been unhappy at home. So he had left and was now living in a relationship with a transwoman. This transwoman had been noticed in the videos along with Suresh. After the police found them and they did some counseling to both parties, suresh was allowed to go home to his wife.
While the app has fetched a lot of criticism, this is the first time it has been found useful in trying to find a missing person. Let us hope that all such apps continue to be more useful in the future!
