There were two chief factors that led to the success of Melissa Butler. One that she hated her job at the Wall Street, and two, she never found the right lipstick shade for her skin tone. While she was growing up, she studied how people of her skin tone weren’t considered beautiful, and later, she figured how the beauty industry has been creating a linear idea of beauty. With that she created her own line of vegan cruelty free lipsticks that came in the range of purples and greens. She was clueless about her plans, and then suddenly with the path of risks, she built the brand of the Lip Bar – the $2 million in funding and shelf space at Target.
